1. Who we are
BarterX is a community platform for listing items you own, requesting exchanges or donations, and messaging other members. The service is provided at https://barterx.com.ng. There is no in-app payment for items.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for activity on your account.
3. Your account
You may sign up with email and password or continue with Google. You agree to provide accurate profile information (such as your name and a general location) and to keep it reasonably up to date. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, our safety guidelines, or the law.
4. Listings, exchanges, and donations
- Only list items you own and may lawfully give or swap.
- Do not list stolen, illegal, dangerous, recalled, or counterfeit goods.
- Do not ask for or offer money, gift cards, or payment apps on BarterX.
- Describe condition honestly and use your own photos.
- Meeting another member is at your own risk. Follow the safety guidelines and inspect items in person.
BarterX is not a party to your swap or donation. We do not guarantee that an item exists, is as described, or that the other person will complete the handover.
5. Messages and community conduct
Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, spam, or share others’ private information. Do not use BarterX to run scams. We may review reports and remove content or restrict accounts.
6. Photos and content you upload
You keep the rights to photos and text you post. You grant BarterX a licence to host, display, and deliver that content so the service can work (for example, showing your listing to other members). Do not upload images you do not have the right to use.
7. Device access
Features such as photos, sign-in, and notifications need the device access described in our Permissions page. You can refuse a permission; some features will then not work.
8. Availability
We aim to keep BarterX available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features. Offline use is limited because listings and chat need a network connection.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, BarterX is not liable for disputes between members, items that are not as described, injury or loss at a meetup, or unavailability of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you cannot waive under Nigerian or other applicable consumer law.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
